Author societies, such as the Irish Music Rights Organisation, form an important part of the music industry, and of any musician and composer’s career. They administer the rights to creative works to ensure that the authors of those works receive their due payment for their use. The new website, authorsocieties.eu, brings together the work of thirty-four such agencies around Europe with the aim of making their inner workings and everyday functions transparent and visible to all and making the business of art easier for creators and users.

The new website is intended to provide insight into the workings of these agencies, as well as updating music (and art) users and creators about new developments and industry or cultural events. Also on the site is a resource section, where you can access information about the artists represented by these author societies, as well as view the policy papers related to collective rights management.
