IMRO Venue Awards Announced
Cork Opera House
The results of the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) Live Music Venue of the Year awards were announced this week at the IMRO headquarters in Dublin. The top award went to Cork Opera House. The venue’s CEO Mary Hickson accepted the National Live Music Venue of the Year Award from IMRO CEO Victor Finn and IMRO Chairman Keith Donald.
RTÉ’s Jenny Huston hosted the event which also saw regional prizes go to the Grand Social (Dublin), Galway’s Roisín Dubh (Connaught), the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray (Leinster, excluding Dublin), Cyprus Avenue in Cork (Munster) and Letterkenny’s Voodoo (Ulster). Editor Niall Stokes presented the O2, Dublin, with the Hot Press Readers’ Award. Electric Picnic was awarded the Festival of the Year prize.
