Guitar Music by the Irish Composers' Collective
The Irish Composers’ Collective, a non-profit organisation that was founded in 2003 to provide a community of information, education and resources for Irish composers, particularly composers in the early stages of their career, will host the latest edition of its monthly concert at the Kevin Barry Room of the National Concert Hall on 26 October, at 8.30 pm.
The concert will feature guitarist John O’Shea performing solo pieces composed by Irish Composers’ Collective members Breifne Holohan, Donal Mac Erlaine, Patrick Connelly, Anna Murray, Ben McHugh and Patrick O’Connor.
O’Shea studied guitar at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama with Michael O’Toole, winning the Flood Trophy for Guitar Performance whilst there, and was the first Irish guitarist to win a scholarship to study at the prestigious University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.
The concert is in association with the National Concert Hall and is being supported by the Arts Council.
A pre-concert talk will take place in the Kevin Barry Room at 8.15 pm.
