Colour Out of Space, a weekend-long festival of experimental music and film which takes place across a number of venues in Brighton, returns for its fifth edition this weekend, 11 to 13 November. The festival is run by Open Music, a not-for-profit arts group based in Brighton, and is primarily coordinated by Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Constance of Blood Stereo, and Michael Sippings.

The festival has been running since 2006 (with a one year break in 2010). It has hosted a range of important musicians, sound artists and filmmakers over the years, from Henri Chopin, to Los Angeles Free Music Society affiliates, to Aaron Dilloway, to Skaters.

This year’s Colour Out of Space features a typically eclectic and rich line-up. The extensive experimental film programme includes work by Sally Golding, Jeff Keen, Aaron Zeghers and Stephanie Wuertz, amongst many others. Music will come from such artists and performers as Aki Onda, the Bohman Brothers, Dylan Nyoukis, Infinite Gaaaaah, Darksmith, Jozef Van Wissem and Dog Lady, again amongst many others.

A variety of other events will also take place, from a collective improvisation on the afternoon of 12 November, to a collaborative exhibition at Grey Area in Brighton featuring work from artists Crank Sturgeon, id M Theft able and Fritz Welch. This exhibition will run from 11 November to 4 December.

Weekend tickets for Colour Out of Space are £30, with day passes selling for £12.
