Banjo Music from Stevie Dunne

Banjo Music from Stevie Dunne

Banjo music aplenty coming out these days, it seems. Stevie Dunne released his debut, About Time, in 2010, featuring Dónal O’Connor as a guest musician. O’Connor doesn’t crop up on the new one from Dunne, simply called Banjo, but an impressive lineup of other guests do, including Arty McGlynn, Seán Óg Graham, David Munnelly and Michael McCague.

The tunes are mostly arrangements of traditional tracks but there are a few by Dunne himself and a number of others including Charlie Lennon and Vincent Broderick. Clare singer Tracy Ryan sings Ye Rambling Boys of Pleasure.

Originally from Clogherhead, Co Louth, but now living in Belfast, Dunne played with the Liverpool-based production the Irish Sea Sessions in 2011.
