16 Opportunities with UK and Ireland Orchestras

The Philharmonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and more are currently hiring.

There are currently 16 opportunities available with UK and Ireland orchestras ranging from Leader positions to Chief Executive roles.

Following the announcement in August that James Clark, the Leader of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and Co-Leader of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, was to step down, the RSNO has advertised for a new Leader. The RSNO is also seeking a Deputy Orchestra Manager to cover maternity leave and a Principal Clarinetist.

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic also has three vacancies, including Head of Operations, Section Player First Violin and Section Leader Bassoon.

Due to the pending retirement of Roy McEwan, who has provided leadership for 23 years, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra is seeking a new Chief Executive. The Orchestra also requires a Sub-Principal Flute and Sub-Principal Viola.

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra is currently accepting applications for its 2015/16 Mentoring Scheme for undergraduate and post-graduate musicians, while The Hallé Orchestra is seeking submissions for its String Leadership scheme. The deadline for both is 11 December.

At Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, a Stage Manager is required, and National Youth Orchestras of Scotland is seeking a Fundraising Manager.

The City of London Sinfonia is advertising for the position of 2nd Obe/Cor Anglais – the deadline is very soon, Friday 26 November – while the Philharmonia Orchestra in London is seeking a No. 3 Cello.

Finally, the orchestra of Scottish Opera is seeking a No. 3 Second Violin.
