Association of Independent Music Announces New Conference

Speakers include composer/sound artist Holly Herndon and industry representatives from Deezer, Bandcamp, BBC Introducing and more.

The Association of Independent Music has announced its new conference, AIM Connected, which will take place in London on 1–3 April. 

AIM Connected will combine the organisation’s three existing events, Indie-Con, Music Connected and Women in Music, into one conference, with talks, panels, roundtable discussions and workshops. 

Topics covered at the conference will include smart devices and streaming, afrofuturism, blockchain and copyright, the live experience, social media and authenticity in branding. Practical workshops will be given by representatives of Deezer, Bandcamp, Spotify, Amazon Music and BBC Licensing. 

Keynotes will come from American composer and sound artist Holly Herndon, and filmmaker and writer Dream Hampton in interview with researcher and writer Rianna Jade Parker.

Also speaking at the conference will be Stuart Braithwaite (Rock Action Records/Mogwai), Amy Lamé (London’s Night Czar), Charlie Craggs (Nail Transphobia), Chris Goss (Hospital Records), Huw Stephens (BBC Introducing/BBC 6 Music) and Helen Smith (Impala).
