The National Opera Studio seeking an experienced and inspirational répétiteur and coach for the position of Assistant Head of Music, to join our artistic team and core coaching staff.

The National Opera Studio (NOS) develops today’s talent for tomorrow’s opera. The NOS is unique, being the only studio of its kind to work in partnership with not one but six leading opera companies: English National Opera (ENO), Glyndebourne, Opera North, Royal Opera House (ROH), Scottish Opera and Welsh National Opera (WNO). In partnership with these companies, it plays a leadership role in the development of operatic talent for the resilience of the art form, through high-quality training, support and dialogue. It provides intensive and individual professional training at the highest level to emerging opera professionals who have the potential to become the leading artists of their generation.

Main Accountabilities

  • To support the Director of Artist Development and Head of Music in planning and structuring the NOS courses in line with the strategic vision and goals of the NOS
  • To choose or advise on repertoire for the NOS courses, in conjunction with the Head of Music and, where appropriate, external directors, conductors, artists-in-residence and NOS Artists
  • To oversee the musical preparation of NOS Young Artists to a high standard
  • To guide the Artistic Planning Manager in the weekly scheduling of the NOS courses
  • To be active in the search for diverse talent for NOS programmes
