Lunchtime with ConTempo
The Galway Music Residency’s Lunchtimes with ConTempo continues next Tuesday 4th October. This popular series, which takes place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church focuses on the late string quartets of Joseph Haydn (Opus 76 and 77).
The Galway ConTempo Quartet will perform String Quartet Op. 76, No. 2 (the ‘Fifths’) next Tuesday, the second work in Haydn’s last complete set of string quartets, which the composer dedicated to the Hungarian count, Joseph Georg von Erdődy. This gorgeous work, featuring falling fifths in the first movement and a mischievous 2 part cannon in the third movement, is the perfect lunchtime treat.
Supported by The Arts Council, NUI Galway and Galway City and County Councils, admission to this event is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. Lunchtimes with ConTempo will take place on the first Tuesday of each month (September-June excepting January). For further information, visit www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie.
