The BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall is the largest classical music festival in the world comprising more than 150 concerts, talks, workshops and events between mid-July and mid-September at the Royal Albert Hall and elsewhere. Proms concerts are live on BBC Radio 3, many are televised and there is an extensive online offering.

The BBC took over the running of the Proms in 1927 and the festival lies at the heart of the BBC’s commitment to live music and cultural programming. The Proms’ founding principles - to make the best-quality classical music available to the widest possible audience – remain at the heart of the Proms today.

The BBC Proms is one of the strongest brand names in the music world and attracts a glittering array of international artists and orchestras as well as interest from a broad range of press and media. In 2016, more than 300,000 people attended nearly 90 BBC Proms concerts in the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall and ‘Proms at.’ venues. The festival is expected to have reached in the region of 14 million people in the UK on BBC television.
