Festival of Folk 2017

Festival of Folk 2017

Wednesday, 31 May 2017, 8.30pm

Join us for our Festival of Folk, celebrating the best of Irish Music, Song and Dance.  The Festival for 2017 begins on the 8th of May and continues until the 23rd of September, with performances six nights a week in May and September, and seven nights a week from July to August. There’s so much to enjoy during our annual festival - three different performances across the season including Fadó Fadó - through lively singing, music, dancing and mime, this production celebrates the joys and sorrows of a typical family living in rural Ireland 100 years ago. Turas is a feast of music from all corners of Ireland beautifully interwoven with exciting hardshoe Irish dancing, rich vocals and wonderful musicians on fiddle, piano, percussion and accordion.  Oileán captures the essence of life on the Blasket Islands, their traditions and customs, wealth of song and story and their strong kinship. This is a glorious visual, musical and magical performance presented using the best of traditional arts - dance, song and live music.
