Film Music Manager
Role Summary:
The Manager, Film Music Creative is a key member in the Film Music department. This self-starter is responsible for a variety of ongoing film/project-related routines. Provides additional creative and project management support on Universal theatrical releases alongside the EVP, SVP and VP of Film Music Creative.
Essential Responsibilities:
– Collaboratively manage music needs of the company’s direct-to-video projects including in-house music supervision, creation of original songs, composer selection, coordination with business & legal affairs, score production, licensing and budget management
– Work closely with key decision-makers and filmmaking team: director, music editor, music supervisor, post production supervisor, and composers to collectively determine and execute the musical vision, tone and style that best suits the project
– Provide creative and project management support, run point on music searches for Universal Pictures Theatrical releases
– Oversee film music department’s internship program
– Generate playlist for various Universal Pictures events and premieres
– Deliver all required music elements within the established budgetary parameters
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
– Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the film music industry
– Prior experience working in music for a motion picture or television studio, production company, music label, composer, or music supervisor
– Ability to multi-task, work & prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high stress office
– Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
– iTunes and Mac proficiency
– Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail is a must
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
– A driven self-starter
– Personable, collaborative and team-oriented spirit with the ability to navigate a multitude of professionals with different interests
– Deadline-oriented and demonstrates a sense of urgency
