Emerald Isle Sings: Bound For Glory

Join Emerald Isle Sings, festival chorus and Dublin ensemble Ború in a unique choral performance at Christ Church Cathedral, Sunday 3rd June at 8pm.

Emerald Isle Sings is a festival choir from the US, under the auspices of Sechrist Travel and direction of Dr. John Leavitt whose members hail from Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Texas & Wisconsin.

Together they form a festival chorus of over 75 singers in an exciting performance of the music of John Leavitt and the world premier of his new choral cantata, Bound For Glory, a collection of American Spirituals.

The chorus will be joined by professional Irish musicians who will perform a selection of Dr. Leavitt's work including arrangements of The Sally Gardens, The Sound Of Music: Choral Highlights, The Rhythm Of Life and A Celtic Prayer. The concert will conclude with one of Dr. Leavitt's most successful titles, River In Judea.

Also performing on the night are Dublin choir Ború, under the musical direction of Carmel Whelan who will perform a selection of sacred and spiritual music from around the world.

Entry is free, with a collection taking place in aid of the Musical Youth Foundation.
