Assistant or Associate Professor of Voice (Mezzo-Soprano)
Duties
Teach and recruit undergraduate and graduate voice students; teach vocal pedagogy and possibly other voice-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; perform in collaboration with faculty and student ensembles, and as a soloist both on and off campus; serve on selected committees, including those involving the audition process; and other duties as appropriate and needed.
Qualifications
Documented and demonstrable advanced solo vocal performance ability is essential for this position. Applicants should also possess successful teaching experience at the collegiate level, ideally including vocal pedagogy. Highly desired additional abilities include: expertise in the International Phonetic Alphabet and lyric diction for singers; successful experience with an opera workshop course; and substantial knowledge of standard song literature. A doctorate in voice or closely related field is required to achieve tenure, although professional equivalency may be considered. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
