Killaloe Chamber Music Festival

The fourth annual  Killaloe Chamber Music Festival 10 – 12th June 2016.

All concerts will be held in the historic St. Flannan’s Cathedral and in Wood Brothers’ Café right in the heart of the village.  The three main evening concerts will bring you on a journey through time with early works by Vivaldi, Teleman and Froberger right through to the present day. Saturday’s programme will have an Emerging Artists Platform. Sunday will include a lecture by musicologist Michael Murphy with the annual Children’s Concert. “Let’s Play Together”.  The ever popular Festival Club will ensure an opportunity to mingle with the musicians after the concerts!

Among the 16 national and international musicians performing under the direction of Artistic Director Joachim Roewer will be Finghin Collins (piano), Deirdre Moynihan (soprano),  Alex Petcu Colan, Maeve O’Hara (percussion) Katherine Hunka, Diane Daly, Liv Heym, Kenneth Rice, (violins),  Joachim Roewer, Cian O’Duil (viola), Marie Bitlloch, Aoife Nic Athlaoich (cello), Malachy Robinson (doublebass),  Dermot Dunne (accordion), Laoise O’Brien recorder and David Adams (organ).

Concert highlights include Rachmaninoff’s 2 pieces for cello and piano Op.2 with Marie Bitlloch and Finghin Collins; J.J. Froberger’s Toccata with organist David Adams; Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Music and Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op.92 “Archduke”.  The Festival features the Emerging Artists Platform ‘Bangers and Crash’ with percussionists Maeve O’Hara and Alex Petcu Colan.

Other works performed during the weekend will include Ryohei Hirose’s ‘Meditation’ with recorder player Laoise O’Brien and Ian Wilson’s ‘Bewitched’ with soprano Deirdre Moynihan and ensemble.
