Santa Rita Concerts: Ficino Ensemble
On Wednesday, 24 April, Ficino Ensemble will perform at the last in the current season of Santa Rita Concerts at the Little Museum of Dublin. Ficino Ensemble is a group of flexible size specialising in the rich repertoire of classical chamber music – a tradition of intimacy, introspection, poise and exchange, to which they bring such insight in performance.
Book now to hear Ficino perform Johannes Brahms’ august Clarinet Quintet of 1891. Composed only six years before his death, in some respects Brahms’ quintet looks back to the elegant music of Mozart. Yet in its deliberate patterns of speech, and, moreover, in its richly dark hues, the music is deeply personal – each movement the revelation of a secret.
Formed by its artistic director Nathan Sherman in 2012, the members of Ficino Ensemble are recognised in Ireland and abroad as soloists and chamber musicians. Their performance at the Santa Rita Concerts on 24 April coincides with the release of their debut album, Winter, on the Ergodos label.
The Santa Rita Concerts provide a unique, deeply immersive audience experience. Each evening begins at 7pm with a Santa Rita wine tasting, and a fireside interview with the artists. The performances take place at 8pm in the museum’s beautifully resonant downstairs gallery. The space is candlelit and the atmosphere highly intimate – a concentrated ritual shared by performer and audience.
