Associate Lecturer in Music Education

Applications are invited for the post of Associate Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Music Education at the University of York.

You will have specialist knowledge of teaching and learning processes in a broad array of educational situations. You will have experience working in Higher Education, preferably with experience in teaching and supervising graduate students. The successful candidate will possess both a first degree in Music, and a PhD or equivalent professional experience and you will have a detailed knowledge of instrumental and vocal teaching processes.

Candidates may ideally also have expertise in areas relating to the discipline, such as musicians’ health, and outreach educational work. University of York welcomes applications from individuals with pedagogical experience of non-Western music.

You will primarily teach on the Masters programme (although some undergraduate teaching will be required), and contribute to the onwards development of this discipline area at York. The role also involves administrative duties associated with the post.

The role is offered as a full time position, fixed-term until 31 July 2018 on a teaching and scholarship contract and the salary will be £31,076 a year. The position is available for an immediate start, or as soon as possible following interview.
