Work Experience Opportunities with BBC Cymru Wales (Factual & Music Department)

These placements provide a “taster” experience of working within the BBC and broadcasting industry. It is aimed at individuals who want to work in the media and would like to find out more about the range of jobs potentially available. Candidates will have the opportunity to see television, radio and online production at first hand.  Candidates will have the chance to spend time with those who produce and co-ordinate the output as well as the craft specialists who capture and post-produce it, along with the staff that provide engineering and IT support across all aspects of programme making and transmission. 

Factual & Music Department (Cardiff – over 18)
Successful applicants will get the opportunity to work with one or more teams producing a range of local and network programmes for television and radio. Projects include strands such as Bargain Hunt, X-ray, The One Show, Weatherman Walking, Crimewatch, BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, BBC Young Musician, Composer of the Week and The Choir, as well as one-off commissions, for example music documentaries, Radio 4 documentaries and Daytime series. You’ll get involved in supporting the production team in the office, which could include assisting with research, organising shoots, logging footage and other general production duties. You will gain a good understanding of the production process and have the opportunity to try out or shadow a wide range of activities in the office and possibly on location too.
