CEO

The Irish Memory Orchestra (IMO)

This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of an exciting new development in Irish music.

The CEO will work with some of Ireland’s finest musicians and manage the next stage in the Irish Memory Orchestra’s development as the only ensemble of its kind in the world.

About the IMO

Dave Flynn’s Irish Memory Orchestra (formerly Clare Memory Orchestra) is the first and only orchestra in the Western world to play exclusively from memory. Visionary Founder Dave Flynn has enlisted some of Ireland’s leading traditional, classical and jazz musicians to create a kaleidoscopic new sound around his award-winning music.

Recent season highlights include performing to over 1000 people in Moscow’s Catholic Cathedral: the orchestra’s first appearance in Asia’s largest traditional music festival, the Sori Festival, South Korea; receiving national headlines and an Allianz Business to Arts Award for the ESB ‘Concert in a Cavern’; acclaimed World Premieres of two large scale works by Dave Flynn commissioned by Clare County Council; plus an historic collaboration between the Memory Orchestra, Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra to a capacity audience at the National Concert Hall.

The Irish Memory Orchestra’s innovative outreach schemes are essential to our programming. This includes our acclaimed ‘Apprentice Scheme’ which has given dozens of young and amateur musicians excellent developmental opportunities, often leading to professional work.

Dave Flynn founded the organisation as The Clare Memory Orchestra in 2012 with our first CEO Eamon O’Donnell (Now Honorary Lifetime President). Upon Eamon’s retirement in 2015 Dave Flynn assumed the role of Acting CEO to oversee the orchestra’s re-branding and development as The Irish Memory Orchestra through 2016.
