Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford has a vacancy for an Organist and Choir Director.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
– The preparation, direction and performance of music for worship at 10am on Sundays and principal liturgical festivals.  
– Development of the cathedral’s robed choir.
– Development with Christ Church Primary School of a children’s choir for a monthly family service 
– Working hours: Thursdays 6–7.30pm and Sunday 9.30–11.30am 
– Work with dean and clergy regarding liturgical preparation. 
– Maintain and build upon positive relationships within the choir and in the community.
– Adhere to the Church of Ireland Safeguarding Trust policy on child protection.

Capabilities
– A high standard of organ playing 
– An understanding of the relationship between worship and music in the Church of Ireland 
– Leadership, experience and ability to direct, develop and inspire a choir 
– Knowledge of liturgical music both traditional and contemporary
– Ability to strategically develop the choir’s skills and repertoire 

Opportunities 
– Opportunities can be developed to teach if so desired.
– Occasional services (weddings and funerals) provide extra income. 

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
