The Irish Guitar Quartet

The Irish Guitar Quartet

Friday, 22 February 2019, 1.10pm

The Irish Guitar Quartet are looking forward to a Nationwide Tour beginning with a Lunchtime Concert in the Glucksman Gallery, UCC for the UCC FUAIM Series on Friday, February 22nd at 1.10pm.

‘The guitar is a miniature orchestra in itself’ - Ludwig van Beethoven
‘Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar, except, possibly two’ - Frederic Chopin

Great minds think alike! If only Chopin had heard four guitars!

The Irish Guitar Quartet (IGQ) is one of Ireland’s most exciting music ensembles, performing a wide range of music from Baroque to Contemporary fusion. Utilising the wonderful versatility of the instrument to create textures and ambience, the IGQ have left nation-wide audiences spellbound.
Join the IGQ in UCC on Friday February 22nd as they hunt for Opals in Australia, take shelter from a storm in a Cuban Landscape, and dance the Habanera in Spain - all conveyed through the magic of the guitar!

Programme includes Opals by Phillip Houghton, Carmen Suite by Georges Bizet and Boccherini’s famous Fandango.
