Artist Development Associate Project Manager
This is a key role in LSO Discovery’s Artist Development team. The post reports to the Head of Discovery while sitting within the four-person Artist Development team. The team works with emerging professional performers and composers to provide career development opportunities, and also produces public concerts and events. The post manages the Discovery Assistant (Artist Development) who supports the work of the Artist Development team.
The postholder will plan and run public events comprising Discovery’s Free Friday Lunchtime Concerts for the local community at LSO St. Luke’s, and the Discovery Days and Open Rehearsals series. They will also oversee the regular pre-concert Platforms performed by Guildhall students in the Barbican Hall.
The role also works with young musicians in higher education, being responsible for the LSO’s long-running String Experience programme, which enables selected string players from London music colleges to play alongside the LSO in rehearsals and concerts. Additional projects include managing large-scale orchestral coaching projects at the Guildhall School, and for an annual coaching residency in Aix-en-Provence.
The post has important relationships with the musicians of the LSO, key Guildhall School staff and students, and the LSO St Luke’s team, as well as other LSO personnel including marketing, development, and concerts staff, and the wider Discovery team.
