Contempo/raneous

Thursday, 28 September 2017, 7.00pm

The Galway Music Residency and Dr John Kenny, Director for the MA in Writing at NUI Galway, present a very special performance on Thursday 28th September at 7pm in the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway. It marks the final in the 2017 season of ConTempo/raneous, the Galway Music Residency’s series of cross-genre collaborations with Galway-based artists.

During the 2016/17 academic year, the Galway Music Residency with the ConTempo Quartet have been working with Dr John Kenny and the students of the wonderful MA in Writing to visit old works and create new. Next Thursday, in the intimate setting of the Aula Maxima, the ConTempo Quartet, past and present students of the MA programme, and special guests will showcase the art that inspired and the work that was created. Join these exceptional performers at 7pm for a glass of wine and a unique evening linking music and literature. From John McAuliff to Bartók, from Dermott Healy to Shostakovich, and from writer to musician, it is set to be a wonderful event.

Supported by NUI Galway, the Arts Council, Galway City and County Councils and GMIT, admission to this event is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. For further information visit www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie
