An opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Music to join the music team within the School of Media, Culture and Society at the University of the West of Scotland. 

Applicants will typically hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area and will be able to demonstrate significant industry and teaching experience. Applications will also be welcomed from those with, or working towards, a relevant PhD and an Advance HE Fellowship.  Applications are sought from individuals from all fields of music but qualifications and / or experience in modern or popular music would be advantageous. The UWS music programmes are hybrid and diverse in nature, covering performance and composition, music business and entrepreneurship, audio production and cultural theory. The successful candidate will have specialisms in one or more of these theatres. 

The successful candidate will also play a central role in delivering an excellent and research-based student experience, contributing to our popular JAMES accredited BA (Hons) Commercial Music and MA Music programmes. They will be engaged in the development of educational thinking, creative practice and research in the broad areas of curriculum design, learning and teaching, and assessment. 

It is expected that the successful candidate will produce and publish excellent research or creative practice outputs commensurate with the stage of their career. The School of Media, Culture & Society is a multi-discipline School and the successful candidate will be engaged incross/interdisciplinary working and programme design and development to support positive results in attainment, student experience and graduate destinations. They will possess developed capabilities in collaborative working and be committed to high professional standards in all areas of responsibility. The post offers an excellent opportunity for an individual to be immersed in a rich academic environment that recognises quality in education, research and enterprise, and international engagement.
