Traditional Artist in Residence 2016/17

Applications are invited from well-renowned and accomplished traditional artists (musicians, singers, dancers) of distinction, for the above residency, which is jointly funded by the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences (UCC) and the Arts Council. The role will be offered for the period October 2016 - September 2017.

The appointee will advise and mentor emerging traditional artists in the UCC community, offering six contact hours per week in the form of workshops, seminars and consultation during university terms. The appointee will give two public performances, and s/he will engage in a collaborative project with staff and students leading to the production, for public dissemination, of original artistic material. In university vacations the appointee will enjoy uninterrupted time to advance his/her own projects.

Candidates should also address the following questions in their application letter:

  1. Outline the relevant skills and experience you would bring to the post of Traditional Artist in Residence.
  2. Describe the ways in which you would contribute to the development of traditional arts practice at University.
  3. Describe the ways in which you would develop your own arts practice during the residency.
